Our purpose of study for music

At Little Paxton Primary School, music is seen as a universal language that demonstrates one of the highest forms of creativity.  We strive to inspire all of our children to develop a love of music and a desire to become able musicians.  Our purpose through music is to increase our children’s self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Our aims for Music

At Little Paxton, we aim to develop a love of music and grow talent as musicians. This is in order to increase our children’s self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.   We aim to listen to  and appraise a wide range of musical styles across the ages. We encourage our children to sing, take the opportunity to learn an instrumment and use musical vocabulary.

Our content for Music

The KAPOW Scheme of Work that we have adopted, successfully weaves the strands from the National Curriculum (Performing, Listening, Composing, The history of music and the Inter-related dimensions of music) into each of their units and builds upon the children’s prior learning. By following a scheme developed by music specialists, we are able to deliver comprehensive music lessons that ensure full National Curriculum coverage. As teachers, we are able to easily monitor the progress of our classes and guarantee that the necessary skills are attained to move learning forward.
