Geography: our purpose
At Little Paxton Primary School we want to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world that we live in, both in our local area and the wider world, which aims to fuel a love of learning. We do this by introducing learning through a BIG question each term. The children’s learning is built on throughout their time at Little Paxton Primary School, and by the time they come to leave their primary education, they will have inquisitive, thought provoking brains to help them learn more independently.
geography: Our aims
Each BIG question has links to the National Curriculum in Geography and each skill is developed further, year on year. We equip children with geographical skills to develop their knowledge through studying places, people and natural and human environments which develops the children’s understanding of the Earth’s human and physical forms and processes.
our aims continued …
With the use of our BIG questions, we encourage the children to discover answers to their own questions and we enable them to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place in it. We are committed to providing children with opportunities to investigate and make enquiries about the local area of Little Paxton (with the connections with have with Paxton pits and the river we live so close to, The River Ouse), so they can develop a sense of who they are, and what makes their local area unique and special in comparison to other areas around the world.
