The Paxton Panthers put in a spirited performance at the regional NFL Flag Football finals held at Cambridge Rugby Club, finishing a commendable 6th place among some of the best teams from Huntingdonshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and North London.
Representing Little Paxton with pride, the Panthers started their tournament on solid footing, drawing their opening game 6-6 in a tightly contested match. They bounced back in impressive fashion in their second fixture, securing a 14-6 win and topping their group to advance confidently into the knockout stages.
Entering the quarter-finals as one of the tournament’s top-seeded teams, the Panthers faced a tough challenge against a highly skilled side from Luton. Despite their determination, Paxton found it difficult to contain the opposition’s lightning-fast running back, ultimately falling 23-6 in a hard-fought battle.
In their final match of the day, Little Paxton competed for 5th place. In a game that went right down to the wire, the Panthers narrowly lost by a single touchdown, bringing their tournament run to a close with a respectable 6th place finish overall.
The team showed grit, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day — a performance to be proud of and a strong foundation to build on for future competitions.
