Last Friday, children from the flag football team represented our school in the NFL regional flag football tournament. There were 15 other schools taking part and fighting to be crowned champions of Cambridgeshire.
Each school was put into a group of four with those finishing top of their group progressing onto the semi finals. The Paxon Panthers had a tough first game against Winyates Primary School. It was 0-0 for most of the game but Winyates scored a late touchdown to win the game 6-0. In the next game, the Panters were up against Barnack Primary School. It proved to be another tough game which saw the Panthers lose 23-0. The final group game was against St Helens Primary School. After an early Paxton touchdown was ruled out for a foul, St Helens went on to win the game 12-0.
In the afternoon, we were invited to take part in three friendlies against Thomas Deacon, Crosshall and Holywell Primary School. The afternoon proved more successful for the Panthers, winning all three games and a number of great touchdowns scored.
A great experience for all of the children that took part. Well done to Aubin, Owen, Harry, Thomas, Mimi, Ollie, Molly, Oliver and Ethan.
Also, well done to Houghton Primary School who won the event and will now represent Cambridgeshire at the national finals in London.
